Dixon Lake is a jewel in the hills above Escondido. Campsites at Dixon Lake range from secluded and shaded, to wide open views of the lake, mountains or city lights. The campground is open year-round, with 24 hour accessibility. Roads and trails from the Dixon Lake campground provide walking access to great trout, catfish and bass spots along the shore. There are boats available for rent at the Park's concessions as well.Dixon Lake Campground Rules:1. NO WOOD FIRES or “Presto Logs” allowed. - Charcoal and propane fires only.2. Maximum of 3 dogs allowed per campsite. Dogs must be registered and fees paid. All rules for dogs must be followed.3. Smoking is prohibited in all areas of the park.4. Quiet time is 10:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M.5. Check-out time is 12:00 NOON.6. All vehicles, RV’s, and trailers remaining in campsite after checkout time may be cited and towed at owners’ expense.7. Only one camping vehicle (includes trailers) is allowed per campsite, and one additional vehicle. Trailer and tow vehicles are considered two vehicles. Guests must park in the day-use parking area and leave the park by dusk.8. Generators may not be used in the campground at any time.9. Maximum occupancy per campsite is 4 adults and 4 children.10. Stay limit is 14 days in a 30-day period. Your stay limit begins on the first day of your stay.11. No fishing is allowed after dusk.12. Daily permits are required for fishing (available each morning at 6:00 a.m.).13. Campers must remain in campground when recreational areas close after dusk. No “night hikes” are allowed.14. No swimming, wading or any other body contact with the lake.15. Removal or disturbance of any wildlife or vegetation is prohibited. This includes gathering or breaking branches. The feeding off wildlife is also prohibited.16. Attaching ropes, wires, hammocks, or other items to trees or bushes is prohibited.17. You are required to maintain your campsite in a clean and safe manner. Place all trash, litter, or animal waste into proper receptacles and secure the lid. See the information on raccoons below.18. Alcohol (beer and wine) is allowed in the campground only, not in any fishing or picnic area. Do not transport alcoholic beverages to any other areas of the park. No glass containers are allowed.19. Campers not accompanied by a parent or guardian must be at least 18 years old.20. All drivers must have a valid driver's license.21. All vehicles must possess a valid registration.22. For emergencies, please call 911.Events and ActivitiesPlease note that private boats or other watercraft are NOT allowed at any time. Fishing permits are required during all fishing hours and must be purchased at the concession stand prior to fishing. Park Rangers cannot sell permits on shore or at the boat dock. Bait and other supplies are also available at the concession stand. Please see a Park Ranger on duty for full details on fishing rules.Remember, no alcohol is allowed on shore or in boats. Smoking is not allowed anywhere in the park.
